Hi! I’m Lukas Wacker
I am a graduate of the RTA Sport Media student at Toronto Metropolitan University in Toronto, Ontario. As an avid sports fan, I have always been intrigued by the sports industry and everything that is involved with making a production happen.
I grew up on the West Coast of Canada in Abbotsford, British Columbia, but Toronto has become a second home to me (I’ll always remain a loyal Vancouver Canucks fan).
The best advice I have received so far in this industry is to “be the guy that everyone wants to work with.” I have taken that to heart, and applied it to everything I am working on. I have a broad range of applicable skills including on-air hosting/commentary, graphic design (Adobe programs), editing and studio production that I believe sets me up for success within the sport media scene.
I have a strong interest in being on-air, but have also really enjoyed the job of producing multiple shows for our program along with creating eye-catching graphics and exciting video edits. I love the challenge, energy, focus and exhilaration of live production and hope to pursue a career that puts me in front of the camera chasing interviews and providing commentary.
I am a personable guy who enjoys talking to people, listening to their perspectives and being able to have spirited conversations about everything that happens in the world of sports. I want to add thoughtful, respectful and informed opinions to the discussion.
Everyone who knows me, knows that NASCAR is my obsession. In 2019, I started the “Green Flag,” a weekly podcast which focuses on everything from the world of motorsports including Formula 1, IndyCar and NASCAR. My interest in sports doesn’t end there, as I intently follow many other sports including hockey, baseball, football, soccer and many more to help diversify my knowledge and obtain the ability to talk about anything in sports.
My goal is to tell meaningful sport stories that other people enjoy and to use my entertaining and fun personality to stand out in such a competitive industry. I’ve been told that my laugh and sense of humour are my best qualities, but I just enjoy making other people smile and try to be the best person I can every single day.
